Betty Eickhoff, age 93, of Newell, Iowa, died on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa.

She was born on June 19, 1925, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Harding and Carrie (Fitchett) Hansen. Confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Betty remained a lifelong member. On April 6, 1941, she married Edgar Eickhoff in Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with four children: William “Bill”, Becky, Steve, and Tom.

Betty enjoyed her role as a homemaker, but she, also, liked working in retail sales at various local businesses: Ben Franklin, Penney’s, Sears, and Varenhorst Fabric. In her leisure time, she became an accomplished quilter, making many quilts for her children and grandchildren and for several people out of state. In addition, she loved spending time in her yard and flower garden. She, even, served as a flower judge at local fairs. Moreover, she enjoyed having coffee with her friends while sitting on her front porch.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Bill (Karen) Eickhoff, of Orange City, Iowa; her daughters-in-law, Karen Eickhoff, of Spencer, Iowa, and LaDonna Eickhoff, of Grinnell, Iowa; and her brother, Ken (Mary) Hansen, of Lakeside, Iowa; as well as fifteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; her parents, Harding and Carrie Hansen; two sons, Steve and Tom; her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Loren Zoet; two grandchildren, Jodey Marasich and Craig Eickhoff; and her sisters, Ruby Pierce and Marge Peck.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. Burial will follow in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will take place for one hour before the service at the funeral home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Betty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
