Margaret Gregersen
June 29, 1927 - June 10, 2019Margaret Virginia Gregersen, age 91, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Monday, June 10, 2019, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Margaret, a daughter of Arthur and Emma (Hansen) Nelsen, was born on June 29, 1927, in Atlantic, Iowa. She grew up in Atlantic where she attended grade school and high school. After graduating from Atlantic High School, she enrolled at Buena Vista College where she studied accounting. On May 26, 1946, she married Sigard Burdette Gregersen in Atlantic. Subsequently, they were blessed with four children: Pamela, Vicki, Rob, and Brent.
Throughout her career, Margaret worked in accounting and co-owned the Harlan Beach Resort in Spirit Lake with her husband from 1963 through 1998. A member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake, she served as a deacon at the church. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she, also, belonged to the China Painters of America and a sewing club.
In her free time, Margaret loved playing cards (especially Pinochle) and bingo with her great-grandson at Otsego Place. In addition, she baked wedding cakes on the side and did design work on cakes. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. They went on a Hawaiian vacation, two cruises to the Caribbean, and an Alaskan trip for their 50th anniversary. Until 2017, she resided at her summer home on Spirit Lake where she could enjoy her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Pam (Norm) Wolff, of Newell, Iowa, Vicki (Marty) Jorgensen, of Urbandale, Iowa, Rob (Charlotte) Gregersen of Bennington, Nebraska, and Brent (Mara) Gregersen, of Queen Creek, Arizona; her grandchildren: Kim (Sid) Bodholdt; Emma, Fowler, Paige, and Preston Gregersen; Becky (Darrin) Ihnen; Matt (Nikki) Jorgensen; Julie (Jessie) Parker; Kelli (Tony) Rhiner; and Kurt Wolff; her great-grandchildren: Mason, Max, and Morgan Bodholdt; Kilee (Ed) Cotton; Jake Ihnen (Alycia); Hailee and Taylor Jorgensen; Jorgan (Elijah) Kragt; Kayla (Wyatt) Lunning; Jase and Jayla Parker; Madison (Jake) Porter; Elizabeth Rhiner; Kelsey (Jordan) Veurink; and Laine and Reagen Wolff; seven great-great-grandchildren; and her brother-in-law, Dick Wright; as well as extended family members and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sigard Burdette (Bud) Gregersen; her grandson, Brandon Jorgensen; three sisters; four brothers; two nieces; and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. Burial will take place in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled before the service from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
