Charlotte Josephine Sitzmann
February 2, 1930 - December 19, 2018

Surrounded by her loving family, Charlotte Josephine (McGuire) Sitzmann joined the Lord on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at the Methodist Manor.

Charlotte was born on February 2, 1930, in Danbury, Iowa, to Mary (Leahy) and Charles T. McGuire. She graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy in Danbury in 1948. She, then, moved to Sioux City where she worked first at Younkers and later in the Circulation Department at the Sioux City Journal. On November 28, 1953, she married Robert W. Sitzmann at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Danbury. They resided in Sioux City (Leeds) before moving to Storm Lake in 1961. A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she participated in the Guild. She enjoyed spending time with her family, having coffee with her friends, playing cards, and sewing. Bob and she would travel far and wide to see family members, including making many trips to Minneapolis, Denver, and California. As a full-blooded Irish woman, she, also, enjoyed a trip to Ireland with her family.

She is survived by her children: Ronda (Mark) Roby, of Watertown, South Dakota, Marda Mayhan, of Omaha, Nebraska, Gaylene (Paul) Kestel, of Storm Lake, Rob (Rebecca) Sitzmann, of Eagan, Minnesota, Donna (Jim) Pittman, of Storm Lake, Nadine (Doug) Harskamp, St. Peters, Missouri, Paula (Mark) McCaulley, of Urbandale, Iowa, Ed (Tonya) Sitzmann, of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Jay (Shannon) Sitzmann, of Wentzville, Missouri; her brother, Pat (Judy) McGuire; her sister-in-law, Janice (Lawrence) McGuire; twenty-five grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her son, Richard; her sister, Pauline Hanson; and her brothers: Cleo, Lawrence, and Jerry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s School in Storm Lake.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Storm Lake. Visitation will take place on Friday, December 21, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m., all at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
