Beula Millard, age 89, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

One of four daughters, Beula Marie Millard was born on May 15, 1929, to John and Grace (Hall) Perrin in Bronson, Iowa. In 1947, she graduated from Castana High School. Later that year, she earned a teaching certificate from Buena Vista College. She taught first in a one room school near her home before accepting a position teaching kindergarten in Moorhead, Iowa. On July 31, 1949, she married Creighton Verl Millard in Moorhead, Iowa. Subsequently, they were blessed with two children, Darrel and Carolyn.

A lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and of the United Methodist Women (UMW), she taught Sunday School for many years and also served as the superintendent of the Sunday School. A Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, she volunteered at school and delivered meals on wheels as well. Well known for her sewing talent, she would creatively mend her children’s clothing. An avid gardener, she would spend every August putting up a winter’s worth of fruits and vegetables. In addition, after retiring, she and Creighton enjoyed travelling to see their children and grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents, John and Grace Perrin; her parents-in-law, Will and Ella Millard; her beloved husband of sixty-six years; her sisters, Darlene Carbaugh and Lila Perrin; her brothers-in-law: Alfred Carbaugh, Dwight Archer, and Loren and Marreld Millard; her sisters-in-law, Norma Millard and Donna Millard; her nephews, Randal Millard and John Carbaugh; and her great-great nephew, Jacob Bull.

Those left to celebrate her life include her children: Darrel Millard, and his wife, Ginger, of Estero, Florida, and Carolyn Millard, of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; her grandchildren: Andrew Millard, and his wife, Danielle; Angela Chabot, and her husband, Chris; Bryan Orlenko, and his wife, Corbin; and Jason Orlenko; her great-grandchildren: Alexandra and Jackson Chabot; Corinne and Bridget Orlenko; Annaclaire and Zane Millard; and her sister, Vida, and her husband, Jerry Clark; as well as nieces, nephews, and several life-long friends.

Beula will be remembered with love as one always willing to help.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, November 9, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
