February 29, 1928 ~ October 21, 2018 (age 90)Paul Gulberg Lindgren, age 90, of Albert City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City.
A son of Eben and Amanda (Gulberg) Lindgren, Paul was born on February 29, 1928, in the family home where he would live for all but two years of his life. Baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City, Paul became an active, life-long member. After completing his education at the Albert City School, he served for two years (1951-1953) in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Afterwards, he would become a member of the American Legion for sixty-five years.
On June 27th, 1954, Paul married Donna Mae Wilson at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. They were, subsequently, blessed with four children: Douglas, Dennis, Neal, and Neva. A farmer most of his life, he milked dairy cows for several of those years. He, also, owned his own backhoe and tiled for many farmers and friends. In addition, he loved horses. Always happy to hitch up a team and haul family and friends for almost any occasion, he, also, played a very active role in the annual Albert City Threshing Event. Moreover, this passion lives on through his children and grandchildren. In his free time, Paul loved to fish and garden.
Those left to cherish his memory include Donna, his wife of sixty-four years; his children: Douglas (Jody) Lindgren, of Oracle, Arizona, Dennis (Carla) Lindgren, of Varina, Iowa, and Neal (Deb) Lindgren, of Fonda, Iowa; his brother, Floyd (Rosemary) Lindgren, of Oneida, New York; his sister, Natalie Salton, of Ruthven, Iowa; his sisters-in-law, Gene Lindgren, of Albert City, Iowa, and Dixie Lewis, of Des Moines, Iowa; his brother-in-law, Carl Wilson, of Johnston, Iowa; his son-in-law, Randy Heuton, of Albert City, Iowa; his grandchildren: Samantha (Josh) Erie; Laura (Matt) Kestel; Elizabeth (Dan) Koch; Dan (Breanne), Guy (Jennifer), Josh (Katie), and Kevin (Amber) Lindgren; Savanna (Brandon) Piercy; and Melissa (Travis) Van Genderen; and his great-grandchildren: Aven and Leon Erie; Ben, Cole, Eva, Ty, and Will Kestel; Joseph and LynnAnn Koch; Darrian Kramer; Cash, Colton, Elias, Jennifer, Josie, Levi, Payton, and Preston Lindgren; Hadley Piercy; Clara, Eli, Finley, Sam Van Genderen; and Jackson and Taylor Zeman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Neva Heuton; his sister, Shirley Beadle; his brother-in-law, Dick Beadle; his brother, Allen Lindgren; his brothers-in-law, Sandy Salton and Vernon Wilson; and his parents-in-law, Elmer and Margaret Wilson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will follow in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
