March 17, 1956 - March 28, 2018

Donald C. Sargent, 62, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away Wednesday morning, March 28, 2018, in the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.

Donald was born on March 17, 1956, at Cherokee, Iowa, to Albert and Hazel (Robeson) Sargent. In 1976, he married Leslie Wunder at Storm Lake, Iowa. They spent twenty-eight years together raising their two children, Jason and Candice. Don worked as a carpenter for a few years, as a furniture mover for North American Van Lines, and for Wilson Foods/Tyson’s for twenty-five years. Affiliated with the Baptist Church, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pool, foosball, listening to music, and reading his Bible.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ollie Sargent; his sister, Jessie, and her husband, Charles Dean Taylor. He is survived by his two children, Jason (Kaira) Sargent, of May City, Iowa, and Candice (Brian) Olson, of Quimby, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Blaine, Case, and Riley Olson; Shayla Droegmiller; Britney, Brody, Brook, and Noah Sargent, two great grandchildren, Jaxon and Lilian Kirchner; his siblings: Ron (Bobbi) Sargent, of Laurens, Iowa, Alberta (Juan) Costillo, of Deloit, Iowa, Wanetta Mitchell, of Washta, Iowa, Harold (Rose) Lloyd, of Spencer, Iowa, Ninon Lloyd, and her significant other, Tony Davis, of Newell, Iowa, Tina (Doug) Hansen, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Gary (Heidi) Lloyd, of Lakeside, Iowa, and James Sargent and Donna Sargent Heisler, of Cherokee, Iowa; and his sister-in-law, Chris Sargent, of Bloomfield, Nebraska; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa, Pastor John Riebhoff officiating. Visitation with the family present will take place on Monday from 12:00 noon until service time at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Cremation will take place following the service on Monday.
