James (Jim) H. Weiland
February 14, 1945 - October 10, 2017

James H. Weiland, age 72, of Truesdale, Iowa, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at his home.

A son of George, Sr., and Lillian (Delbridge) Weiland, Jim was born on February 14, 1945, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Growing up, he attended school in Albert City, graduating from Albert City High School in 1963. Then, he became ASE certified in auto repair. On December 6, 1968, married Darla Graff in Mitchell, South Dakota. Subsequently, they were blessed with two children: Kami and Lindee. A city council member, Jim was, presently, serving as the Mayor of Truesdale. Moreover, he took a lot of pride in owning his own business, Automotive Specialists, in Storm Lake. As always, he enjoyed helping others out. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, pursuing his interest in photography, and drag racing in his younger years. An avid NASCAR fan, he, also, enjoyed traveling. In addition, he enjoyed cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Darla Weiland, of Truesdale, Iowa; his children: Kathy (Neal) Hazen and Kami (Brad) Jarnagin, both of Newell, Iowa, Connie (Keith) Hartman, of Nemaha, Iowa, and Lindee (Jason) Weiland, of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; her grandchildren: Corey (Amanda) and Steven (Stephanie) Hartman; Ryan (Courtney) and Aaron (Tiffany) Hazen; Beth (BJ) Jones; Austin and Kyle Jarnagin; Nikki (Doug) Ockerman; Phoebe Pfaff; and Kacy (Hedda) Ramirez; twenty great grandchildren; her brother, George Weiland, Jr., of Truesdale, Iowa; her sisters: Margie Hoferman, of Alta, Iowa, Ruth Dierenfeld, of Aurelia, Iowa, Darlene (Floyd) Barrickman, of Truesdale, Iowa, and Linda Anderson, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and close friend and nephew, Chris Barrickman, of Truesdale, Iowa; as well as extended family members and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lillian Weiland; his uncle and aunt, Fred and Mame Weiland; his brothers-in-law, Duane Hoferman and Henry Dierenfeld; and a granddaughter, Kristen Hazen.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 15, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow at a later date in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour before the service at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
