Beverly Peterson of Truesdale gave up her earthly life on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, after a brief illness. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Elk Township Cemetery, rural Alta. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is overseeing the arrangements.

Beverly Jean Peterson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, was born on June 18, 1941, to Elmer and Martha (Galvin) Heuton at Jefferson, Iowa. She began her schooling in Jefferson, Iowa, and finished it in Sioux City, Iowa.

On April 7, 1963, she married Marvin Eugene Peterson at the Lutheran Church in Sutherland where Beverly had been helping area families. The couple was blessed with two children: Anthony and Keith. Beverly spent her time as a farmwife taking care of her family and helping Marvin with their farming operation. Moreover, she enjoyed many happy hours knitting, crocheting, tending to their gardens, and following their grandchildren’s sporting events.

In 2001, she and Marvin moved from the farm near Alta into Truesdale. Beverly enjoyed her area birthday clubs. She loved to travel to visit family and attend threshing events in Iowa as well as in other states. The unofficial greeting committee at the Highways 3 and 71 Sparky’s Truck Stop, she and Marvin, often, enjoyed coffee and meals there.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters-in-law, Arlene Gosch and Marilyn Heuton, and her two brothers-in-law, Carlton Surmons and Stanley Peterson.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin, her two sons, Anthony (Tony) Peterson, of Litton, and Keith Peterson, of Pocahontas; her four beloved grandchildren: Leah Peterson, of Sioux Falls, Christina Peterson, of Storm Lake, Derris Peterson, of Cherokee, and Matthew, and his wife, Liz Peterson, of Litton; and two great-grandchildren, Daxton and Adia Peterson; a sister, Doris (Dody) Surmons, of Winston Salem, North Carolina; two brothers, Glen Heuton, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Rick Heuton, of Winston Salem, North Carolina; and two sisters-in-law; Betty Peterson, of Cherokee, and Pat Peterson, of Aurelia, and a brother-in-law, Bernard (Bernie), and his wife, Carol Peterson, of Aurelia, as well as by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
