Irwin "Mac" McKenna
December 29, 1932 - March 4, 2017

Irwin "Mac" McKenna, age 84, of Okoboji, Iowa, formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at his home.

Irwin Leo McKenna, a son of Thomas Leo and Edith (Harrup) McKenna, was born on December 29, 1932, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Mac attended Providence Consolidated in Sulphur Springs and graduated from St. Mary's in Storm Lake. He furthered his education at Buena Vista College where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. After a couple of years teaching, he became involved in sales and bought the Okoboji Motel. Then, he joined the United States Army where he served his country during peacetime. A sports enthusiast, Mac, especially, loved baseball.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Betty Cawley, of Mililani, Hawaii, and her four children; Barb McIntire, Julie Bender (John), Tom Cawley (Susan), and Kellie Moberg (Carl); his brother-in-law, Bill Stessman, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and his four children: Laura England (Jeff) and Lisa, Mark (Tina), and Sheryl Stessman; and his cousin, Nate McKenna, of Storm Lake; as well as extended family members and friends. Mac was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Elaine and Jane Stessman; and his brother-in-law, Don Cawley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. A private family burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. A Celebration of Life will, then, take place at the KC Hall in Storm Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
