Chansy Khothisen
April 7, 1931 - March 13, 2017Chansy Khothisen, age 85, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Monday, March 13, 2017, at his home in Storm Lake.
Born on April 7, 1931, Chansy grew up in Laos where he worked as a farmer. He, also, served in the Vietnam War. On April 14, 1955, he married Lom Khothisen. Subsequently, they were blessed with seven children: Yuang, Kuang, Louan, Sammy, Somkhouan, Phayvanh, and Sommaly. Chansy was a member of the Buddhist Temple in Storm Lake.
His hobbies included exercising, cooking, and listening to music. He enjoyed dressing up nicely as well. Chansy will be remembered as a great man and grandfather with a kind and generous heart. He loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lom Khothisen, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children: Louan Panyasith and Somkhouan Phonevilay, of Fresno, California, and Sammy and Phayvanh Khothisen and Sommaly Vethita, all of Storm Lake, Iowa; ten grandchildren: Jaran, Raymond, Sabrina, and Tommy (Jae) Khothisen; Herrison, Hilton, and Kaysone Phonevilay; Bounsa and Vatsana Vethita; and Annie Viengsay; five great grandchildren: Eli, Evan, Julie, Kira, and Mya; one brother and one sister; extended family members; and friends. Chansy was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Yuang and Kuang; a grandson, Tally Phonevilay; and one brother.
Traditional Buddhist Rites for Chansy Khothisen will be held Sunday, March 19, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
