Larry A. Sievers
May 1, 1949 - March 11, 2017Larry Alan Sievers was born on May 1, 1949, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Lorenz Henry and Erna Elizabeth (Otto) Sievers. After graduating from Aurelia High School in 1967, Larry served with the Army in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he enrolled at Universal Trades in Omaha, Nebraska, where he acquired the skills of a mechanic. He made his life in Aurelia, Iowa, where he attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, farmed his family’s land, and worked for Simonsen Rendering. He retired in 2015. He, then, spent his time enjoying small construction projects, sharing a beverage with the locals, watching old westerns, and visiting his grandson and family in Ames, Iowa. Larry died unexpectedly at his home on March 11, 2017.
Preceded in death by his parents, Larry is survived by his son, Daniel (Brooke) Sievers, of Ames, Iowa; his grandson, Harlan Sievers; his brother, Dale (Janet) Sievers; his niece, Micki (Jeff) Feilmeier; and four great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former spouse, Karen Lee and stepchildren, Kelly Simon and John Simon.
Memorial services for Larry A. Sievers, 67, of Aurelia, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aurelia with Pastor Larry Lemke officiating. Inurnment will follow in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery, Storm Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be for one hour before the memorial services at the church. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is overseeing the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Aurelia.
