Joyce Ellen Bennett
February 8, 1948 - February 14, 2017Joyce Ellen Bennett, a daughter of Howard and Berniece (Nelson) Ginkens, was born on February 8, 1948, in Mason City, Iowa. She spent her childhood years in Rembrandt, Iowa, where she received her education and graduated from Rembrandt Consolidated School in 1966. Then, she worked as a cook at the Lake Creek Golf and Country Club and later as a waitress at the 3 & 71 Truck Stop. While attending Storm Lake School of Cosmetology, however, she worked at Elmer's Grocery Store in Rembrandt.
Joyce married David Bennett on September 25, 1976, in Rembrandt. To their union, two daughters were born, JaMae and Aletha. In time, she opened Joyce's Beauty Shop which she operated for many years. Later for a period of time, she became a part owner of the Main Street Diner in Rembrandt. Joyce began working for Walmart in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she was presently employed as an associate in the Deli Department.
Joyce passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David, in 2003; one brother, Marion Ginkens; and one sister, Arlene Panhorst.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Dena Ginkens, of Arizona, JaMae (Korey) Dau, of Sutherland, Iowa, Aletha (Jay) Bennett, of Sac City, Iowa, and Randie (Jason) Grotluschen, of Sac City, Iowa; her stepchildren: Ruth (Bob) McNeece, of Port Angeles, Washington, Joyce Fisher, of Dexter, Iowa, Dick Bennett, of Marathon, Iowa, and Jewell (Al) Kruckman, of Albert City, Iowa; a brother, Harry (Nancy) Ginkens, of Marion, Iowa; a sister, Shirley Jones, of St. Paul, Minnesota; her grandchildren: Kate, Karson, and Hayley Dau, B.J. Grotluschen and Zack Ginkens; and her great- grandchildren: Miika, Syann, and Sarren Grotluschen; as well as other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt, Pastor Rhonda Wykoff officiating.

Visitation will begin 5:30 P.M., Friday, with the family present from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M., at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
