March 13, 1919 - December 2, 2016

Alvin Frederick Jipp, of Sioux City and formerly of Storm Lake and Aurelia, passed away on Friday, December 2nd, 2016, in Sioux City, Iowa.

Alvin Jipp, a son of Herman and Minnie (Krebs) Jipp, was born on March 13, 1919. Baptized and confirmed at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley, Iowa, he attended Hartley Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1936.

On August 31, 1947, Alvin married Gladys Marie Luetkeman, and to this union, three children were born: Connie, Randall, and Diane. The family lived and farmed north of Sutherland for seventeen years before they purchased a farm north of Aurelia in 1963. Upon retiring from farming in 1979, they built a home in Storm Lake where they lived until they moved to the Whispering Creek Retirement Center of Sioux City in 2012. Alvin had a lifelong passion for his family and farming. He and Gladys, also, found great enjoyment in traveling with extensive sight-seeing tours throughout the United States and around the world.

A member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church of Storm Lake, Alvin passed away at Whispering Creek Retirement Center at the age of 97 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence, Lawrence, and Ray; and one grandson, Kevin Hess.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Gladys; two daughters, Connie (Rollyn) Hess, of Wentworth, South Dakota, and Diane (Tom) Bousquet, of Dakota City, Nebraska; one son, Randall (Kay) Jipp, of Aurelia, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Leona Jipp, of Jacksonville, Florida; six grandchildren: Shelley, Gina, Josh, Emily, Devin, and Kelsey; and six great grandchildren: Ashley, Nick, Brayden, Carter, Josiah, and Lukas; as well as other relatives and friends

A private family memorial service will be held at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, Pastor David Koehler of United Faith Presbyterian Church officiating. A private burial service for the family will follow at the Hartley Pleasant View Cemetery. The Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is overseeing the arrangements.
