Delores Hogrefe
July 7, 1931 - November 29, 2016

Surrounded by her four children, Delores (Newgard) Hogrefe, 85, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at her home following a courageous battle with leukemia.

Delores was born on July 7, 1931, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, to Allen and Doris (Miller) Newgard. After graduating from Cornell High School in 1948, she met and married Paul Davis in 1951. Together, they raised their four children, Greg, Connie, Debbi, and Brian, in the Storm Lake, Iowa, area before moving the family to Rogers in 1971. In 1976, she married Elmer C. Hogrefe in Storm Lake, Iowa. They lived on his farm in Albert City, Iowa, before retiring to the home they built in Storm Lake. In 1999, however, they moved to Northwest Arkansas to be near their children.

Passionate about serving others in the health care field, Delores worked in area hospitals as a nurse in both Iowa and Arkansas. After she retired, she continued to give of herself by working in the Adult Education Program in nursing homes and with senior groups.

A lifelong faithful member of the Lutheran church, Delores, always, enjoyed her church family. An avid reader, she, also, loved music. Moreover, she treasured her family and taught her children to love each other unconditionally.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents; a grandson, Aaron Callaway; and a sister, Janice Peterson. She is survived by her children, Gregory and Brian Davis; Connie Callaway; and her husband, Harold; and Debbie Thompson; all of Northwest Arkansas; a sister, Norma Gerke, and her husband, Clifford, of Newell, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Wendell Stephens, of Rogers; as well as by many extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2016, at the Stockdale-Moody Funeral Chapel in Rogers with Chaplain Jim Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Rogers Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
