David Halverson
February 14, 1954 - December 6, 2016

David Phillip Halverson, 62, of Webster City, died on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.

David Phillip Halverson, a son of Phillip and Iris Halverson, was born on February 14, 1954, in Alta. He graduated from the Alta Community High School in 1972 and from Iowa State University in 1976. On April 15, 1978, he married Sheryl Ann Thompson in Ellsworth. While living in Ellsworth, he served on the public library board and the cooperative telephone board as well as a church trustee and volunteer fireman. He spent his entire working career in the Farmer's Cooperative system. He enjoyed agribusiness and promoting good soil stewardship. An avid reader, he, also, enjoyed a relaxing game of golf. Moreover, he was a loyal fan of the Cyclones, the Twins, and the Vikings. Although only a part-time resident of the Galena Territory, he, especially, loved the time he was able to spend there.

Dave is survived by his wife, Sheryl; his mother, Iris Halverson, of Alta; his brother, Frank (Brenda) Halverson, of Linn Grove; his sister, Ann (Jim) Stimson, of Newfane, New York; his sister-in-law, Kathy Prowant, of Urbandale; and his brother-in-law, Craig (Dawn) Thompson, of Bradenton, Florida; as well as by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special aunt-in-law, Margaret Anderson, of Ellsworth. He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at The Webster City Links Golf Course from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service led by Pastor William Reister at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Kendall Young Library in Webster City or the Salvation Army.
