David Hadden
May 5, 1940 - November 30, 2016David G. Hadden, age 76, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
David was born on May 5, 1940, in Alta, Iowa, to Edward and Edna Schroeder, who owned and operated the local pharmacy. Dave’s grandfather, D.E. Hadden, conducted numerous early weather experiments that provided meteorologists with early foundational weather data. After graduating from Alta High School in 1958, Dave earned an accounting certificate from the Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha, Nebraska. On May 24, 1959, he began his career at the Commercial Trust and Savings Bank where he would work his entire career until 2002. Later, he took courses from Iowa State University in Agriculture credit and attended the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin. At one time, he served as president of the Siouxland Chapter of the Bank Administration Institute, which excels at furthering education in banking. He treasured the relationships he had with his customers, many of whom he felt had become like family. He loved the personalized investment interactions he had with so many wonderful people throughout the years.
On October 21, 1961, Dave married Jean Dick in Early, Iowa. They would welcome four children, Scott, Terri, Michael, and Lori into their home. Dave beamed with pride when he talked about his children, and he loved sharing stories about them, always eager to tell others of how proud he felt of his children and his grandchildren. Indeed, he, often, reminisced about family vacations and the special memories he had with family.
A past member of the Jaycees and Rotary Club, Dave enjoyed playing golf, watching Iowa Hawkeye sports, spending time with his friends, and participating in numerous family activities.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Jean; his son, Scott, and his wife, Renée, of Victoria, Minnesota, Terri, and her husband, Bruce, of Spencer, Iowa, Lori, and her husband, Jeff, also of Spencer, Iowa, and Michael, of Indianola, Iowa; five grandchildren: Jaci, Kady, Brody, Ashley, and Amanda; and a sister, Connie (Hadden) Hoch, and her husband, Bob, of Storm Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Alexandria, in 2011; his sister, Doreen Friedrichsen, in 2011, and her husband, Loren, in 2008; his niece, Louise Dahleen, in 2001; and his nephew, Lynn Friedrichsen, in 2008.
