Selma “Sally” Christine Margaretha Radke, a daughter of Claus and Annie (Clausen) Frahm, was born on November 5, 1920, on a farm near Cushing. Baptized at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein, she became a communicant at St. John’s Lutheran in Cushing. Moreover, she attended school in Cushing.

Sally worked at home and as a nanny until she married Ralph Radke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cushing on January 26, 1947. To this union, four children were born: Dennis, Jacquelyn, James, and David. Sally farmed with her husband, Ralph, northeast of Galva until 1983 when they moved to Storm Lake. In 1993, they moved to their home in Galva. For fifty-one years, Sally belonged to the Ladies Aid Society at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Galva. A member of the Galva Country Club for many years as well, she enjoyed a good round of golf. In 2007, she and Ralph were honored to serve as king and queen for Galva’s 125th anniversary celebration. Otherwise, she enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, family get-togethers, and gardening.

She is survived by Ralph, her husband of sixty-eight years; her children, Dennis Radke, of Cherokee, Iowa, Jacquelyn (Raymond) Franz, of Schaller, Iowa, James (Kathryn) Radke, of Clarion, Iowa, and David (Janda) Radke, of Galva, Iowa; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Dick) Christiansen, of Newell, Iowa; a brother, James Frahm, of Marshalltown, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Joann Frahm, of Galva, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
