STORM LAKE PILOT TRIBUNE - Fri, Apr 14, 1911 - Storm Lake has lost one of the most lovable characters in the entire city in the death of Miss Leona Fern Spragg, whose death occurred on Sunday April 9, at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs D.S. Spragg. While her death was no surprise to family or friends, it has caused great sorrow among all.

Deceased was born in Buchanan county, Iowa Feb 7, 1869 and when quite young came to this county with the family and they lived for many years in Fairfield township.

In 1896 the family came to Storm Lake to live. Prior to that time Miss Spragg had been a student in Buena Vista college and was a graduate of the normal department. She taught in the schools of the county for 15 years, until her health compelled her to give up her work and go west.

She taught in Oregon for some time but anemia claimed her as its victim and death came to her on Sunday of this week. She traveled extensively in the west and as she had great descriptive powers, her accounts of her travels were read with great pleasure by her friends. She was a lovable character in every respect.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2 and at the Methodist Episcopal church on Tuesday. Interment was made in the Storm Lake cemetery.
