Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Thu, Aug 22, 1935 - Funeral services for the late Mrs J.C. Schweitzer, one of Storm Lakes beloved women, were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon. Dr Arrasmith presided, calling attention to the many excellent qualities of the wife and mother who had passed away at Rochester, MN, Friday.
Anna Michel was born in Bemigen, Canton Bern, Switzerland, May 30, 1868 and departed this life Aug 16th, 1935 at the age of 67 years, 8 months, and 16 days. She came to America when 12 years of age and settled at Olney, IL.
On Feb 20th, 1890 she united in marriage with John Christian Schweitzer and to this union seven children were born all living: Clara and William living at home; Mrs Reid Edwards of Albert Lea, MN; Mrs H.M. Davis of River Edge, NJ; Mrs August Fett of near Hanover; Louis C of Storm Lake; and Edward C of Chicago.
Beside her fond and devoted husband and children she leaves to mourn her two brothers and two sisters and 11 grandchildren.
Mrs Schweitzer joined the Methodist church at Bloomington, IL 40 years ago after coming here she united with the German Methodist church. For about 5 years she had been failing in health. She was taken to Rochester, MN on Aug 6th in hopes of improving her condition but died there following an operation.
Mrs Schweitzer was brought to Storm Lake from Rochester by Morton Hughes and taken to the Hughes Funeral home until the time of the funeral on Sunday.
