Storm Lake Pilot - October 5, 1882 - For the first time in the 12 years of Storm Lake's history, she is afflicted with a disease that is somewhat epidemic in form and fatal in results...diphtheria. Yesterday morning a daughter of Fred Scholl succumbed to the dread disease and the parents and friends are greatly grief stricken.
