Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Thu, Aug 3, 1939 - Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church for J.C. Schweitzer, 77, who passed away suddenly Tuesday morning at his home, 539 Hudson street following a heart attack. Interment will be in the Lakeview cemetery.

J.C. Schweitzer was born at Canton Bern, Switzerland Aug 8, 1863 and was baptized Oct 30 of the same year. When a small child he came with his parents to the US. The family settled at Olney, IL where Mr Schweitzer grew to manhood.

He was united in marriage to Anna Michel on Feb 20, 1890. they continued to live in Illinois until they moved to a farm near Storm Lake about 35 or 40 years ago. Sixteen years ago Mr Schweitzer retired and the family moved to Storm Lake.

Seven children were born to Mr and Mrs Schweitzer. Namely Clara and William living at home; Mrs Reid Edwards, Albert Lea, MN; Mrs H.M. Davis, River Edge, NJ; Louis of Storm Lake; Edward of Chicago; and Mrs August Fett, who with Mrs Schweitzer had preceded her father in death.

Besides his children, Mr Schweitzer leaves to mourn 11 grandchildren; one brother, Fred; a sister Lizzie; three half brothers, John, Sam and Ed and a half sister, Lena Shuring, all of whom live in Illinois.

Mr Schweitzer had been in failing health the past year but for the greater part of the time was able to be about his home and enjoy visits with friends. At the time of his death Aug 1, he was 75 years, 11 months and 23 days old.
