Three years later they moved to Dubuque county, and in 1876 came to Buena Vista county, and settled on the farm now owned and occupied by S.R. Haines. Eight children were born to them, all of whom are living, the father having died about twenty years ago.
The following are the children: Mrs. Caroline Newell, of Seneca. S.D; Mrs. George Egerer of Truesdale; Mrs. B.E. Steadwell, Mrs. Charles Newell and Mrs. W.W. Bard of Storm Lake; Mrs. Emma Cook and Mrs. W.A. Roland of Eakley, Okla; and John Sanborn of Storm Lake. There are also twenty grandchildren to mourn her loss. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Alice Springfield.
Mrs. Sanborn was a member of the Congregational church in Newell having joined there many years ago, and was a very sincere Christian woman.
She had a loving disposition, and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. Funeral services were held at the Egerer home on Saturday afternoon, conducted by J.B. Holden of Newell.
