Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune - Thu, Jul 10, 1958 - Donald Samuel Rodgers, son of Samuel and Viola Rodgers, was born on a farm near Sac City on April 21, 1920 and departed from this life at his farm home near Nemaha on July 6, 1958. He had attained the age of 38 years, 2 months, and 15 days.
The early years of his life were spent on the farm with his folks. There he received his education in the Sulphur Springs consolidated schools and there he grew to young manhood. Following the completion of his education he remained at home to help his father on the home place.
On Dec 24, 1941 he was united in marriage with Margaret Geraldine Bullard of Storm Lake. To this marriage were born two children: Roy Robert Rodgers and Mary Margaret Rodgers. In the years that followed the young couple made their home on various farms in the area of Sac City, Sulphur Springs, Alta, Newell, and Nemaha.
Among the many who survive him are his wife, Mrs Margaret Rodgers and two children; his maternal grandmother, Mrs Jemima Manzer of Sioux City; his paternal grandmother, Mrs Annie Rodgers of Sac City; his mother and father, Mr and Mrs Sam Rodgers of Newell; two brothers: Russell Rodgers of Eagle Grove and LaVerne Rodgers of Newell; a sister, Mrs Fred Glosemeyer of Lake View; and a host of other relatives.
Services were held Wednesday July 9 form the Hughes Nelson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Storm Lake cemetery.
