Storm Lake Register - July 28, 1922 - William Olson, a resident of Storm Lake and Buena Vista county for a number of years and well known and highly esteemed by many in the community, passed away at the home of his son, E.W. Olson, at Spirit Lake last Friday July 21 at the age of 76 years and 5 months.

Mr Olson lived on a farm just east of Storm Lake for several years and also lived in town for a time. He was prominent and well know and will be remembered by many of the older resident of the city.

William Olson was born near Norkhoping, Sweden, Feb 21, 1846 and died at the home of his son, E.W. Olson at Spirit Lake July 21, 1922. He emigrated with his family to Clinton, IL in the year of 1879 and settled on a farm where he lived until moving to Storm Lake in 1894, where he farmed until the death of his wife in 1902, after which time he has made his home with his son, E.W. Olson, most of the time.

He was united in marriage to Christine Johnson in 1876 and to this union 3 children were born, two having died in infancy. Mr Olson had no other relatives in this country excepting his son, he being the only one of 9 children to come to America.

Funeral services were held at Spirit Lake last Sunday and the remains were brought overland to Storm Lake. A short funeral service was held at the grave and interment was made in the Storm Lake cemetery.
