Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - June 1, 1933 - The Hanover community was saddened by the death of a well known resident, Mrs. Henry Getzmeier, who died at her home on May 22, at 7:40 a.m. The deceased suffered a stroke October 20, 1923. Since that time she had been in poor health. She suffered a blood clot of the heart and another stroke May 20th, from which she never regained consciousness.

Minnie Kaskey was born at Manistee, Mich. May 23, 1873, and there was baptized into the Lutheran faith. In 1888 she was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran church at Hanover. Mrs. Getzmeier came to Iowa at the age of 3 years with her parents, three brothers and one sister.

She was united in marriage to Henry Getzmeier March 15, 1890. After their marriage they resided on the same place southwest of Alta 35 years. January, 1931, they moved to their new home, built on the same farm, where she resided until her death.

To this union six children were born: Albert, Mrs. Mildred Hustedt, Lloyd, Elvira, Arthur and Iva.

Her devoted husband; children; one grandchild Alvina Hustedt; one son-in-law; and two daughters-in-law; and one brother, Will Kaskey of Storm Lake, besides many other relatives, survive her.

Mrs. Getzmeier was a loving wife and mother. She will be greatly missed by her family circle, friends and neighbors. She was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran church of Hanover, attending services regularly up until the time of the first stroke when infirmities made it impossible for further attendance. Rev. Wehking visited her often during her illness. Mrs. Getzmeier suffered at times, but bore her pain patiently and was of a cheerful disposition. She was up and about the house until a week before her death. Had she lived one day more she would have been 60 years old.

Funeral services were held Thursday at the house and 10:30 at the Hanover church. Rev. H. Wehking and Rev. E.J. Lindemeyer officiating. The choir sang "One Sweet but Solemn Thought." Flowers were many and beautiful. A large crowd attended the services. She was held in high regard by all who knew her. Six nephews acted as pall bearers: Clarence and George Kaskey, Glenn and Harry Clark, Louis and Elmer Getzmeier.

Those attending from a distance were: Mrs. F.W. Kaskey and Opal of Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Werner Clark of Fairmont, Minn; Mr. and Mrs. Will Hoffmeier and Eda of Ida Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kaskey, Mr. and Mrs. George Kaskey and Fred Kaskey, all of Aurelia; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson of Ida Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Clark and Will Kaskey of Storm Lake.
