Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - Feb 11, 1916 - Alvina Gephard was born in Lebanon county, PA Oct 7, 1842 and at the time of her death, Feb 3, 1916 she was 74 years of age.

On January 2, 1862 she was married at Troy Grove, IL to Urias Myers. Nine children were born to this union, six of whom survive their mother and are left to comfort the father. They are: Mrs S.I. Edwards; Charles Meyers of Storm Lake; Mrs A Krause of Troy Grove, IL; Mrs J.B. Alexander of Sioux City; Mrs Henry Meinhard and Elmer Meyers of Sherburne, MN. All of the children were here before the death of their mother and again to the funeral services.

After leaving Illinois the family made their home for many years south of the lake, but as the children all went to homes of their own, Mr and Mrs Meyers moved to Storm Lake since which time the town home has been the scene of many happy family gatherings all of which the mother made most pleasant.

For years she has been a sufferer but she never let her own lack of health interfere in giving comfort to others. The last year her complaint, gall stones, had become serious. On account of her age an operation was dreaded but finally as the last resort it was attempted and was successful, but the vitality to rebuild was not present and after every hope of recovery was felt, she suffered a relapse and on February the third gave up the struggle.

Funeral services were held in the home Friday afternoon. There was a large attendance in spite of the short notice and the casket was smothered in flowers as tokens of love for the departed and sympathy for the living. The remains were laid to rest in the Storm Lake cemetery.
