Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune - Sep 27, 1951 - Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Kroll Funeral home for S.P. McMakin, who passed away on Friday afternoon at his home, 117 East First after a lingering illness. Interment was in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Sherman Page McMakin, son of Grafton M and Amelia J McMakin, was born in Henry, IL on March 1, 1871.

At the age of one year he came to Iowa with his parents to a farm near Newell. In 1894 he was united in marriage to Anna H Cheney of Newell. To this union one son was born, Eugene P, now of Chicago.

The family came to Storm Lake in 1900, when he established the Storm Lake Tank & Silo Mfg. Co, which business he operated for a period exceeding 40 years.

In 1914 he was married to Mrs. Helen Carroll of Storm Lake, who preceded him in death in 1944.

He is survived by one son, Eugene P. of Chicago; one grand daughter, Jean of Chicago; one stepson Kerlin Carroll of Redwood Falls, MN; one step grandson, now in the armed forces.
