Storm Lake Buena Vista County Herald And The Linn Grove News - Oct 24, 1935 - Friends and relatives paid final tender respects Tuesday afternoon to Mrs C.B. McGill, 55, prominent Storm Lake society woman, as funeral services were held from the home.

Mrs McGill died suddenly Sunday noon at her home, 826 West Fifth street after being in ill health for several years. She contracted the flu about two months ago which left her in a weakened condition. Two weeks ago she was taken to the local hospital for treatment but improved rapidly and was able to return to her home a week ago Monday.

However, she became critically ill again last Thursday morning and death followed. Mrs McGill, resident of this city for 26 years, was widely known here and throughout the state because of her helpful interest in community and club affairs.

Mrs McGill, who maiden name was Jessie M Low, was born at DeKalb, IL May 15, 1879, the daughter of Charles and Ellen Orr Low. As a child she moved with her parents to a farm north of the town, now known as Lake View, and there she grew to womanhood, being graduated from the Lake View high school. Following this she attended the Palmer Business School in Cedar Rapids.

Her marriage to C.B. McGill took place at the home of her parents on Nov 19, 1904. To this union three children were born: Roger, Atlantic; Phyllis, now Mrs E.W. Martin of Shenandoah; and Faith Elizabeth, who died at the age of six weeks.

After their marriage, Mr and Mrs McGill, moved to Eagle Grove where they resided until 1910, when they came to Storm Lake.
