McIntosh, Belle R 1878-1967

Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Sep 14, 1967 - R. Belle McIntosh, daughter of Leander and Alice Starr, was born Nov 9, 1878 in Greene county. She passed away Sept 9, 1967 at Buena Vista county hospital following a brief illness at the age of 88 years and 10 months.

In 1890 she moved with her family to a farm northeast of Schaller. After teaching school for several years, she was united in marriage to Frank McIntosh on Dec 14, 1898. They established their home near Schaller where she resided until her last illness.

Although no children were born to this union, she took into her home four foster children: Mrs Charles (Mary Jane) Hudkins of Tacoma, WA; Allan Gardener, Sunnydale, CA; Mrs Earl (June) Jacobsen, Larrabee; and Virgil Johnson, Storm Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1928; her parents, a brother, Orrie, and a sister, Mrs A.K. (Stella) Rininger.

Following the death of her husband she managed and took care of the farm devoting much of her time to the improvement of the farm home and grounds. Her labors were visible by the many beautiful flowers and trees.

She leaves to mourn her foster children.

Funeral services were held Sept 13 at the First Presbyterian church of Schaller. Interment was in the Storm Lake cemetery.
