Storm Lake Pilot - Dec 28, 1882 - Died in Maple Valley township, Dec 20, 1882, Mrs. Sarah McDowell, wife of J.P. McDowell, aged 32 years and 6 months. Her remains were brought to this city for burial.

Mrs McDowell was cousin to Mr A.R. Biddle, of this city, and Mr. Fred King, of Eureka township, Sac county. She left five small children, one being only ten days old, which makes it a most serious affliction to the family.

She was a consistent Christian and had been a member of the Baptist church. The family moved into this county from Maroa, Illinois, early last spring, with bright hopes and aspirations for the future, but now with the loss of the wife and mother, the small children to care for, makes the loss one most serious to bear for the husband and father, which entitles him to the sympathies of all. Kind friends will do all they can to alleviate and care for the children of tender years, but no efforts made by loving friends can supply the loss made by the Angel of Death.
