March 14, 1933 - Storm Lake Register - Mrs C.H. McDiarmid, well known resident of Storm Lake and Buena Vista county where she had resided for about 48 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs R.D. Thompson at Vermilion, S.D. Sunday morning at 7:30 after an illness of some time.

Mrs McDiarmid suffered a stroke at her home in Storm Lake in September and since that time had been confined to her bed. Since early in October she had been with the Thompson family at Vermillion. Having lived in this city and the vicinity for nearly half a century, Mrs McDiamid was well and favorably known and her death is mourned by countless friends.

Mrs McDiarmid, formerly Miss Julia Brockway, was married to Charles H McDiarmid at Tamarac, IL. October 15, 1881. In 1885 Mr and Mrs McDiarmid moved to Buena Vista county locating on a farm near Storm Lake. They moved from the farm to Storm Lake in 1895. Mr McDiarmid, who was city street commissioner for a number of years, died in January 1932.

To Mr and Mrs McDiarmid three children were born. They are Edna, who died in 1895 at the age of 5 years, Clyde B McDiarmid of Storm Lake, and Mrs Robert Thompson of Vermilion, S.D.

Besides her two children she is survived by 5 grandchildren: Enid, Shirley, and Thomas Thompson of Vermilion and Lyle and Ted McDiarmid of Storm Lake; one sister, Mrs Florence L Haughey of Ames; one brother E.G. Brockway of Indianola; and other relatives and many friends.

The body will be brought to Storm Lake today, Tuesday, and will be taken to the Fiscus Funeral home. Funeral services will be held from Lakeside Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. Interment will be in the family lot in the local cemetery.
