Storm Lake Register - May 30, 1939 - Mrs John Martin, well known resident of Truesdale, passed away at the Swallum hospital Saturday morning about 2. Mrs Martin became suddenly ill the previous Sunday and was taken to the hospital on Wednesday, it was believed she contacted poisoning through some food.
Funeral services are being held this Monday afternoon at the Assembly of God church in Truesdale. Interment will be in the Storm Lake cemetery.
Mrs Martin is survived by her husband who conducts a grocery store at Truesdale.
- Laura Clever Martin, daughter of Mr and Mrs Cyrus Clever, was born Jan 27, 1878 near Shippensburg, Pa and died May 27, 1939 at the age of 61 years and 4 months.
In 1895 June 11 she was united in marriage to John Martin of Mercersburg, Pa. After their marriage they resided on a farm near Mercersburg until in 1906 when they moved to a farm near Truesdale, where they lived until they finally moved to Truesdale where they have since resided.
She leaves to mourn her husband, John Martin, five sisters, and 7 brothers. The sisters are: Mrs Sallie Dorty and Mrs Nannie Pensinger of Mercersburg, PA; Mrs Rose Pittman, Buffalo, NY; Mrs Edna Hospelhorn, Chambersburg, PA; and Mrs Eva High also of Chambersburg. The brothers are: Harry and John of Mercersburg, PA; Clarence, Storm Lake, IA; Ernest and Raymond of Chambersburg, PA; Ellis of Hagerstown, MD; and Paul of Greencastle, PA.
