Howard E. Banks, age 87, of Alta, passed away on Monday, May 02, 2016, at the North Lake Manor of Storm Lake.
Howard E. Banks was born on October 21, 1928, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Voris and Ida (Lumis) Banks. In 1945, he joined the United States Navy for two years, and then in 1947, he joined the United States Army for three years. After serving his country, he tried out for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Howard was an ambulance driver in his early years before becoming a janitor. A professional driver as well, he drove all over the United States and Canada.
He married Betty Bourne, and to this union three children were born.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Banks, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children, James, of Phoenix, Arizona, Richard, of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and Jeannette, and her husband, Tim Loraditch, of Alta, Iowa; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Cliff.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 04, 2016, at 11:30 AM at the Faith Bible Christian Outreach of Storm Lake with the Rev. Loren Carlson officiating. There will be no burial or visitation.
