January 19, 1906 - Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Joseph R. Lee died at his home in Scott township, Saturday, January 13, 1906, after a short illness. The remains were interred in the Storm Lake cemetery, Monday, January l5.
Joseph R. Lee was born in Harrison county, Kentucky, March 4, 1858. When twelve years of age he removed with his parents to Douglas county, Illinois. On March 19, 1884 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Louisa Bowman. To this union seven children were born, six of whom survive the father. The living children are: John W., Robert E, Elsie E., Julia A, Henry J., and Samuel R. Lee. All of the children are at home.
In 1882, Mr. Lee united with the Christian church and has since been a consistent member of that body. Funeral services were held at the house Monday. The Masonic order, of which Mr. Lee was a member, being in charge of affairs. Rev. Ballou of Sioux City conducted the services at the home, the Masons conducting the service at the cemetery.
He was ever an indulgent, kind and industrious husband and father and his demise will be deeply mourned by all who knew him. Mrs. Lee and children expect to continue the management of the half-section farm on which they reside.
