Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - Mar 12, 1915 - Last fall Mr H.O. Lee injured his knee slightly in coming up the cellar steps. He did not think much about the injury and the wound healed.

The limb then began to pain him and he became lame. Medical aid was called and everything possible was done. He was finally taken to the hospital and experts from Sioux City and Chicago called in consultation. Hope however was given up long ago and Mr Lee knew that he could not recover. He kept up bravely and was prepared for the final end. He attended to all his worldly affairs so as to make matters as easy as possible for his loved ones and as he had lived a clean life and had been a consistent Christian, he was not afraid to meet his Maker.

On Saturday evening March 6, 1915, the end came. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church. The interment was made in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Halver O Lee was born Oct 12, 1865 in Konigsberg, Norway. His mother died when he was an infant and he came to this country with his father when he was 16 years old age.

He was married to Miss Evelyn Batcheller June 14, 1903 at Chattsworth, IA. One son, Lester, was born to them. For seven years he lived at Rembrandt and then sold out his store there and came to Storm Lake where he has been in business for the past 5 years. He has only one living relative on his side of the family his sister, Mrs Tuttle Olson of Rembrandt.

Mr Lee was a quiet unassuming man of firm principles. He made friends and kept them. He was of the type of busiess man which represents the solid backing of a town ready to always back real improvements.

To the wife who for their many weeks has watched beside the bedside of her husband, she who had known that the hours on earth were counted and who tried to make these last hours such that would be with her through the coming years as a help and a strength and a sweet memory.
