August 4, 1942 - Storm Lake Register - Walter G. Leckington, oldest son of Rudolph and Clarissa Leckington, was born near Lena, Illinois Aug. 12, 1864. He passed away at Ashland, Wis. July 25, 1942.

In young manhood he followed farming during the summer season and taught school during the winter. He was united in marriage to Anna K. Daughenbaugh on Sept. 8, 1892. In the spring of 1899 they came to Storm Lake, where they resided on a farm south of Storm Lake. Afterwards they moved into Storm Lake. Mr. and the late Mrs. Leckington spent a great deal of time touring the United States and spent several winters in California.

Mr and Mrs. Leckington were the parents of one son and five daughters. The son and one daughter preceded their parents in death.

The surviving daughters are Mrs Hazel Davis, Sac City; Mrs Kathryn Hix, Milford; Mrs Bessie Edwards, East St. Louis, Illinois; and Mrs Lucile Beckfield, Albert City. There are also 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Mr Leckington is also survived by one brother Hollis of Lena, Illinois. Another brother and two sisters as well as his parents preceded him. Mrs Leckington passed away last December.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday afternoon at the Hughes funeral home. Mrs. H.E. Farnsworth and Mrs Ralph Sheffield sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs. L.O. Olney accompanied them. Bearers were M.M. Mandeville, Res Mather, George Mudge, Robert McKenna, Russell Wood, and Harry Snyder. Burial was in the Storm Lake cemetery.
