Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune - May 31, 1951 - Funeral services were held from the Hughes Funeral home Sunday afternoon for Mrs Sophia "Grandma" Klein, Buena Vista county's oldest resident. Interment was in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Sophia Fredericka Anderson was born in Sweden Sept 5, 1850, and came to American in 1860. The ocean voyage at that time took 3 weeks.

On Oct 11, 1873, she was married in Chicago to John A Klein. In the succeeding years they made their home in Alta, in Kentucky, and in Erie, PA. They moved to Storm Lake in 1889 where they lived for some 22 years. Then the family moved to Kindersley, Sask, Canada in 1911 where they resided for some 16 years, returning to Storm Lake in 1927.

Seven children were born in the family and they were Ebba, Landon, George, Oscar, Chester, Carrie and Nora.

Mrs Klein continued to make her home in Storm Lake after the death of her husband on April 24, 1930. In spite of her advanced age she lived alone up until two weeks ago, when she was taken ill and had to be removed to Swallum hospital. She passed away there last Thursday having reached the age of 100 years, 8 months, and 19 days.

Mrs Klein is survived by 3 children: Chester of Kinderslay, Sask, Canada; George of Maidstone, Sask, Canada; and Mrs Nora Sanborn of Drinkwater, Sask, Canada. Four grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren also mourn her passing. Mrs Klein had been a member of the Lakeside Presbyterian church for many years.
