January 1, 1918 - Storm Lake Register - Mrs Anna Kaufman, a resident of this city for many years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter Mills, on Wednesday evening January 2, 1918, at about ten thirty o'clock, after an illness of several months.

Anna Leidenger was born on a farm near Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, May 15, 1839. On April 20, 1855, she was united in marriage to Mr Frank Kaufman at Cumberland, Maryland.

They moved to Iowa and settled on a farm near Storm Lake, where she lived until the death of her husband on January 22, 1906, when she came to town to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Peter Mills.

To Mr and Mrs. Kaufman were born ten children, five daughters and five sons. These together with thirty-eight grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, are left to mourn her death.

The children are Mrs Barbara Mills, Storm Lake; Mrs. Kate Mills, Storm Lake; Mrs. Harvey Rodenius, Welcome, Minn.; Mrs. James Best Nemaha; Mrs. Margaret Schonz, Storm Lake; William Kaufman, Storm Lake; Joe Kaufman Laurens; and John, Frank and Bosty Kaufman, Storm Lake.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church Saturday morning at nine o'clock conducted by Rev. Father Cooke, V.F. and interment was made in the Storm Lake cemetery. The many friends will extend sympathy to the family in their bereavement.
