Storm Lake Register - December, 1919 - Mrs J.H. Hoffman, one of the well known and beloved women of Storm Lake, died suddenly of hemorrhage of the brain at her home at 312 Grand avenue Monday evening at 11:15 and the news of her sudden death came as a shock in the people of Storm Lake and vicinity. Mrs Hoffman had not been well ever since she had never fully recovered from the effects of the influenza last winter.

She had prepared the evening meal and seemed in her usual good health. Shortly after 11 p.m. o'clock she went to the bathroom and her husband heard her fall and immediately went to her. She passed away before a physician arrived at the home.

Mrs Hoffman is survived by her husband; four daughters and one son: Mrs Roy W Ford of this city, Mrs Lee Steckmest of Peterson, Miss Josephine Hoffman, a trained nurse of Colorado, Miss Opal Hoffman at home, and Arthur Hoffman of Escanaba, Michigan. Funeral services will be held Friday.
