Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - February 4, 1943 - Funeral services for Mrs Lola Hill, resident of Storm Lake for more than a half century, were held Wednesday afternoon at the home, 1102 West Fifth street. Mrs Hill passed away at her home Monday afternoon.
Relatives from out of town were: Mr and Mrs John M Hill, Fort Dodge; Mrs Elizabeth Hill, Cherokee; Mr and Mrs W.F. Behrens, Albert City, nieces and nephew of the deceased, and E.B. Rutledge of Fort Dodge.
Lola Frances Needham, daughter of Alfred A and Eunice Needham, was born in Cleveland, Ohio Sept 3, 1853. She moved to Rockford, IL with her parents and here she received her education.
She was united in marriage on Dec 29, 1875 with Donald Hill and in this union 7 children were born: Mary, Agnes, Alfred, Lola (Mrs Harry Lohr), Eunice, Margaret, and Donald.
Her husband, daughter, Mary, and son, Donald, preceded her in death.
Four daughters, one son, and a grand daughter, Lola Lohr, are left.
She came to Storm Lake in 1884 and for 14 years resided on a farm four miles west of Storm Lake. Her small home was a shelter to many unfortunate neighbors who lost their homes during the Pomeroy cyclone in 1893.
In her early girlhood she became a member of the Methodist church at Rockford, IL and by every act lived a Christian life. During the years of 1917 to 1919 her time was spent knitting for soldiers.
