Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - January 16, 1914 - Jonas Haywood, deceased, was born in Saddleworth, England on Nov 10, 1853, and died at his home in Milford on Jan 11, 1914, being 61 years, 2 months, and 1 day old.
When 5 years old he left England with his parents and settled at Decatur, IL where he spent his boyhood and young manhood, leaving when 23 years old in the year 1881 for Storm Lake, Iowa. Here he engaged in the shoe making business which trade he followed until his death.
In 1883 he was married to Philipena Smith and to the union 6 children were born: Mrs Claude Roberts, Mrs Ray Davidson, Arthur, Jake, Josephine, and Louis. All of these survive their father.
Mr Haywood came to Milford in 1910 and engaged in his business of shoe making on Broadway and purchased property in the north part of town for a home and was counted in his business as an essential part of our business world. He was unassuming in character attending closely to his business and home duties.
He leaves to mourn his loss, besides the children mentioned above, a wife, four brothers - James, Alfred, William and Bert, and one sister - Mrs Ferry of Decatur, IL and 2 grandchildren.
The body was brought to Storm Lake Wednesday and funeral services were concluded. Interment was made in the Storm Lake cemetery.
