Storm Lake Pilot - April 28, 1880 - Death of a Miser - A few days ago a man died in Storm Lake that was certainly a peculiar character. His name was Robert Hamilton and for several years he had rotated between Storm Lake and Sac City and other points and generally slept in hay mows, straw stacks, and other places where lodging was to be had "without money and without price".

He subsisted on the plainest and most simple fare and in his clothing and person was anything but clean. In fact he was a miser. Possessed of ample means he could have lived and died "decently and in order" but he chose to live a mendicants miserable existence and die like a pauper. So far as known he had no relatives living.
