Storm Lake Register - January 14, 1926 - Mrs. Henry Haarup, well known and beloved resident of this community, passed away at her home, south of Sulphur Springs on Wednesday, January 6. She suffered a paralytic stroke and death came suddenly within 15 months of the death of her husband.
Hilke Nederhoff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nederhoff was born May 1, 1880, in Germany and died at her home at the age of 46 years, eight months, and six days.
When four years of age she came to America with her parents and settled in Oregon, IL. Later they moved to Nemaha, Iowa where she grew to womanhood. During this period she professed her faith as a Christian and joined the Presbyterian church.
In September 1903 she was united in marriage with Henry A Haarup at Newell. They have resided in Buena Vista county since their marriage. Seven children were born to this union: Cecil, Edith, Harold, Josephine, Dorothy, Hazel, and a son who died in infancy.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her aged father and three brothers: John, Henry and Bert Nederhoff, of Roulean, Sank., Canada, and one sister, Mrs. Frank Prentice of Mallard, Iowa.
Four sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in this city at the Presbyterian church at 2:30, in charge of Rev. T.A. Ambler. Interment was made in the local cemetery beside her husband. The sincere sympathy of numerous friends is extended to the Haarup children, as well as to the other relatives in their sad bereavement,
Relatives from out-of-town in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jensen, Andrew Jensen and Mrs. Charles Durschmidt, all of Fort Dodge, and Mrs. Carrie Jensen and daughter, Louise of Clear Lake, Iowa.
