Storm Lake Register - March 4, 1947 - Mrs G.M. Gilliland, 79, long time resident of the Storm Lake community, died at her home 718 Lake Avenue, Saturday night following a few days illness. Her passing removed from Storm Lake one of its best known ladies in civic and social activities.

Funeral services are being held Tuesday afternoon. Interment is in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Mrs Gilliland is survived by her husband, George Miller Gilliland; two children, Floyd H Gilliland of Devils Lake ND; and Mrs George Basil Rice of Tucson, AZ; one brother, W.R. Hardesty of Fort Dodge; two sisters Mrs Cora Elmore of Paton and Mrs Katherine Anderson of San Jose, CA; five grandchildren: Dr R.P. Gilliland of Carrington, ND; Dean M Gilliland of Grand Forks, ND; Dorothy Jean Gilliland of Devils Lake, ND; George Basil Rice, jr of Tucson, AZ and Babette Diane Rice of Tucson, AZ; and one great grandchild.
