Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - July 27, 1900 - Wm. H. Foster died at the home of his son, Ernest W. Foster in Storm Lake, Wednesday, July 25, at 6 o'clock a.m.
He had not been well for several months and for some weeks suffered with asthma, though the immediate cause of death was dropsy. His death was very sudden and unexpected, as he had not been confined to his bed and was out in the yard only a few minutes before he died.
Deceased was born in Union county, Pennsylvania, July 26, 1826, where he was married February 15, 1852, to Miss Mary Smith. His wife died in 1877, and in 1881 he moved to a farm near Schaller and in 1893 to Storm Lake. He was a plain, honest, unassuming man, and well liked by all who knew him.
He leaves six children, all grown to adult life: Mrs. Alfred B. Smith, of De Witt; J.H. and E.W. Foster, and Mrs. C.H. McLaughlin, of Storm Lake; and Mrs. A.C. Searle and Mrs. Grear Foster, of Schaller.
The funeral was held today from the Christian church, Rev. Pace, assisted by Rev. Conner, the evangelist, conducting the services. All of his children were present and there was a large attendance of sympathizing friends.
