Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - January 24, 1913 - Storm Lake is again in sorrow over the death of Mrs. Hannah Durstine, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Dooley in Des Moines on Thursday of last week. She had been sick for some time and a few weeks ago she was taken to a Des Moines hospital for an operation. She was not able to stand the shock and died as stated above.

Hannah M. Jager was born in Port Jarvis, Penn, June 16, 1843, and was therefore sixty nine years and seven months of age at the time of her death. At the age of sixteen years, she moved with her parents to Galt, IL., where she was married to Martin V. Durstine on March 25, 1868. In the spring of 1869 they moved to Nevada, Iowa, coming to Storm Lake in the spring of 1877, which has continued to be her home since.

She was the mother of five children, two of whom, together with the husband, have preceded her to the great beyond. The living are W.O. Durstine of Belpre, Kan., B.E. Durstine of this city and Mrs. Arthur Dooley of Des Moines. She also leaves a brother and two sisters.

Following her operation on January 3, she was taken to the home of her daughter where she died of cancerous tumor. She was a good woman, devoted to family and intimate friends. She had been a devout Christian since girlhood.

Funeral services were held in this city on Saturday at the Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. J.J.W. Place, and interment was made in the Storm Lake cemetery. This newspaper extends sympathy to the sorrowing family and friends.
