DIEHL, FULTZ, SHEVEL, SCHLIEFF, RINGER

March 14, 1935 - Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Funeral rites for Z Diehl, prominent Storm Lake resident, who died at his home, 532 Grand avenue, early Tuesday morning, were held this (Thursday) afternoon. The body was laid to rest in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Z. Diehl, son of Mr and Mrs Henry Diehl, was born in Garret county, Maryland on Nov 5, 1854. He grew to manhood and received his education in Maryland and in 1877 came to Iowa, locating in Hayes township, Buena Vista county.

On Feb 26, 1880 he was united in marriage to Miss Julia Fultz, the marriage being solemnized in Hayes township. After their marriage Mr and Mrs Diehl resided on a farm south of Alta for a year. They then purchased a farm in Hayes township where they moved and lived until 1906. They then retired and moved to Storm Lake.

To Mr. and Mrs. Diehl seven children were born, six of whom are living. They are: Mrs. John Shevel, Mrs. George Schlieff, Ralph Diehl, and Miss Fidelia Diehl, of Storm Lake, the latter an instructor at Newell, Clinton H. Diehl of Cherokee, and George Diehl of Los Angeles, CA.

One son, Arthur Alvin, preceded him in death.

Besides his wife and six children, he leaves to mourn, ten grandchildren: Donald and Dorothy Shevel, George Robert, Mary Jane and Helen Schlieff, Paul, Doris and Robert Diehl, and Clinton D. Diehl, and Rachel Diehl; one sister, Mrs. John Ringer of Confluence, Pa and many other relatives and friends.

Having resided in Storm Lake and the community for 58 years, Mr. Diehl was widely and favorably known. His death is deeply mourned.
