June 2, 1932 - Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Funeral services for Michael Crowley, estimable Storm Lake resident, who died at the Swallum hospital early Monday morning were held from Lakeside Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. The Rev. Edward L. Gibson officiated, and burial was in the local cemetery.

Mr Crowley had been in ill health all winter and recently his condition had been serious. He was taken to the hospital a week ago, where death occurred.

Michael Crowley was born at Galena, Illinois August 19, 1850. He lived there for one year and then moved with his parents to Dubuque. In 1874 he moved to Hayes township, Buena Vista county and lived there and in Storm Lake until his death.

September 25, 1879 he was united in marriage to Miss Julia Deal of Storm Lake. Alter their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Crowley lived on their farm in Hayes township for 27 years, after which they moved to their present home at 220 Hudson street.

To this union six children were born. They are: Mrs. Martha Ford, Fred Crowley and Mrs. Bertha Johnston of Storm Lake: Mrs. Forrest McConkey of Wessington Springs, S.D.; and Mrs. Milo Robinson and Mrs. Errol Roberts of Storm Lake.

Mr. and Mrs. Crowley celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home on September 25, 1929.

Besides his wife and six children, he leaves to mourn his death 11 grandchildren: 1 great grandchild: two brothers, Joseph Crowley of Storm Lake and Frank Crowley of Alcester, S.D.; two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Cloud of Montevideo, Minn, and Mrs. Robert Duncan of Lebanon, S.D.; and other relatives and countless friends.

During his long residence in Storm Lake and Buena Vista county, Mr. Crowley became well and favorably known and was held in highest regard by all who knew him.

Among those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Forrest McConkey of Wessington Springs, S.D.; Roy Newell and daughter, Aleta and Roy Crowley of Alcester, S.D.; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Duncan, Earl Duncan and daughter, and Will Lillibridge of Lebanon, S.D.
