January 31, 1929 - Storm Lake Register - August Biggins Sr., who came to Storm Lake in 1873, died at the Swallum hospital yesterday morning at 11:30, following an accident at his home six miles south of town two days before.

Mr Biggins, who was nearly 85 years old, fell down stairs Monday morning of this week when he got up from bed without the knowledge of other members of the household after a long illness. He was brought to the hospital immediately, but failed to rally from the combined effects of the fall, his illness and his advanced age,

He had been ailing for a long time and was in the Swallum hospital for five weeks until last Sunday, when he was taken home at his own desire. He told members of his family then that he felt fine.

August Biggins Sr., was born April 23, 1844, in Poson, Prussia. He came to America in 1869, and lived four years in Bloomington, Illinois. On February 2, 1869 he was married to Miss Henrietta Meyer. Mr. Biggins and his wife came to Storm Lake in 1873 and started farming south of the lake in Hayes township. They made their home in that locality as long as they lived.

Seven children were born to them, of whom five survived: Mrs. Emma Schipull of Algona, Iowa; Mrs. L.A. Wilkins of Hayes township, and Miss Augusta Biggins, Harry Biggins and August Biggins Jr., who live on the same farm.

Mrs. Biggins died September 3, 1919.

August Biggins Sr. prospered as a farmer and came to own several farms in the vicinity of his home, which have been rented out to others.

Funeral services will be held at St John's Lutheran church in Storm Lake, tomorrow, Friday, at 2 p.m. Rev. K.P. Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake cemetery
