September 4, 1919 - Storm Lake Register - Mrs. August Biggins, a resident of Buena Vista county for many years, passed away at the Dr Seaman hospital in Cherokee on Wednesday afternoon September 3rd, where she had been for several weeks receiving treatment for cancer.

Mrs. Biggins has been suffering with cancer for some time and it was hoped she might recover, however she was in a serious condition the first of the week, and a consultation of doctors was held on Wednesday. The remains were brought to this city on Wednesday evening, and funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran church here.

Mrs. Biggins leaves her husband and several children. A complete obituary will be obtained for next week.

September 11, 1919 - Storm Lake Register - Henrietta Meyer was born in West Prussia, Germany 1848 being 71 years, 5 months, and 28 days old at the time of her death.

She was married on February 2, 1869 to August Biggins in Germany coming to America at once where they settled in Bloomington, Illinois. Here they remained 4 years coming to Storm Lake where they have made their home.

Seven children were born to this union, two dying in infancy, five were left: Mrs Fred Schipull of Luverne, Iowa, Mrs Lou Wilkins of Storm Lake, August, Gusta, and Harry at home. Also four grand children, two sisters: Mrs. Wolf of Wisconsin and Mrs. Zinn of Illinois.

Mrs. Biggins had been failing in health for some time, and several weeks ago sought relief, from her trouble at the Dr. Seaman Sanitorium at Cherokee and for a time the prospects for a recovery were good. On Sunday before her death she could walk about the room and on the porch, but early in the week her condition began to grow worse rapidly. Her relatives and Pastor were called to her bedside on Wednesday, part of them arriving in the morning and the others in the afternoon. She recognized them but was unable to speak to them. About four o'clock the angel of death spread his wings over her and at four thirty she had breathed her last. She passed away quietly and peacefully.

The remains were brought to her home that evening, and funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at the home at two o'clock and from the home were taken to the church of which she had been a member from its beginnings, where services were conducted by Rev. J. Hartmeister. Interment was made in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Mrs. Biggins was a kind and devoted wife and mother and was a friend to everyone and her death is mourned deeply by relatives and a hosts of friends.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schipull and daughters Alene, Beulah, and Helen of Luverne, Iowa; Mr and Mrs Chas Gulreh, Mr and Mrs Chas Hanarska, Will Biggins, Mrs Emma Bunkouske and son Elmer of Luverne, Iowa.
